Strengthening Market Linkage for Artisans: Avahita joins hands with NINFET-ICAR to lead E-Commerce Initiative for Eco-Friendly Agribased Products

ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology (ICAR-NINFET), Kolkata, organized a Business Meet on E-Commerce Platform Creation for Eco-Friendly Products Made of Natural Fibre & Allied Materials, in association with M/s. Avahita Marketing & Consulting Service Private Limited, a promising start-up under ABI-ICAR-NINFET. The event aimed to explore the potential of e-commerce platforms in promoting eco-friendly products, especially those handcrafted by women artisans trained by ICAR-NINFET and supported by the institution.

Dr. D. B. Shakyawar, Director of ICAR-NINFET, emphasized the importance of adopting e-commerce strategies to enhance the market reach and sustainability of eco-friendly products. He highlighted the potential of e-commerce platforms to revolutionize the market, offering insights into future trends and opportunities for stakeholders. Dr. L. K. Nayak, Head of the TOT Division, delivered the welcome address, setting the stage for the program’s objectives.

Smt. Sudeshna Das, Director of Avahita Marketing & Consulting Service Private Limited, presented a detailed concept note on e-commerce platform ideas and the role of stakeholders. The program featured insightful presentations, engaging discussions, and valuable networking opportunities, emphasizing the crucial role of e-commerce in promoting sustainable products and providing a roadmap for future initiatives in this domain.

The event was attended by scientists from the institution, administrative staff, and around 62 micro-entrepreneurs under ABI-ICAR-NINFET, marking a significant step forward in the promotion of eco-friendly products through innovative e-commerce strategies.
